The Whale’s Pelvis

The Whale’s Pelvis & AoKs.

Vestigial structures fascinate me (both in the natural and social worlds !). They may be vestigial, but they’re still a ripe area for ToK consideration. They take us into fascinating knowledge problems including:

  • Problems of establishing Cause & Effect.
  • Historicism.
  • Contemporary Biases.
  • Paradigm bound analyses.
  • Categorisation.

I put together the following lesson aimed at a mid course G11 class who have a fairly good grasp of ToK, and are starting to play with the concepts. We are also now starting to develop the skills for Presentation and The Essay. There are potentially many hours of lessons contained in this unit, you can drive it as the conditions require!
Enjoy !
