Introducing ToK (again)

Yet more introductory activities for introducing ToK, these were written for Grade 10 classes, but they will work equally well with G11 classes at the beginning of the course. There are two big activities here (both 1 hour long): (i) Producing Art, and (ii) The Paper Plane Activity.  Whilst the Art activity seems to go well with the right sort of classes I have had more success with the Paper Plane Activity, particularly with classes who are maybe initially more reluctant to open up to ToK.

The activities are designed to open up discussions stemming from the big questions posted on the presentation. I always use think-pair-share to get the discussion running in the class. The degree to which you want to pull out the themes and extend the discussion is really up to you.

Both activities could be followed up by reflective writing pieces in order to help students deepen their learning.
